SOLD

This drawing, "Topography of a Bird," was purchased today. My first sale. The collector was also interested in the "Courtroom Light Fixtures Seen in The Movies," so I sent him the one below with the bird.

See a drawing you like? Email me if you're interested in purchasing or commissioning. I'll draw your mom's dog or cat - Mother's Day is just around the corner.

Time Out New York - Date These New Yorkers

This is Michael M, a 32-year old author from Sunset Park Brooklyn. You can see the photo portrait at Time Out NYC. I also drew Theo Z and Paddy Johnson. I didn't have time to finish this one but I like it as is.

Theo Z. Time Out New York Single

Time Out New York has some nice photographic portraits of New Yorkers looking for love. This is my cartoonish drawing of Theo Z a 30-year old (really?) visual artist from the Upper East Side. (Theo doesn't really have that crazy bulbous cheek.)

I also drew Paddy Johnson, the writer of ArtFagCity.com, but I don't think she likes the portrait.

Time Out New York - Date These New Yorkers

The portraits are so good that I had to draw one - and maybe more. I really like this portrait of Paddy Johnson of ArtFagCity.com. If you like art, politics, technology, or important things in the world, you should read her blog.

Daffodil 30

Paul Cezanne preferred painting fruit to flowers. He said, "I decided against flowers; they wither on the instant. Fruit are more loyal."

He taught his parrot to say, "Cezanne is a great painter!"

Squirrel or a Boy? (30 second sketch)

NYC is looking for a new mascot for the Parks Dept. Submit your mascot idea here.

This one looks like a DJ. What should I name him? Or her?

UPDATE: This is Belka Nuez. He is Russian-Spanish-American and his name means Squirrel Nut - first name is Russian, last name is Spanish.

New Project

Crow Line 30

I love the big drawings and I certainly think they help improve my drawing with daily practice, but when I spend so much time on one topic, I think it can cramp linear flow. So, in addition to the big drawings that take a ton of cross hatching and line strengthening, I am going to shoot for a daily 30 second drawing. The outline has to be done in 30 seconds and then I can take a few minutes for line correction.
