"Mexican Eagle"

This drawing is from a photograph taken by Joe Blackburn on Highway 16 between Bandera and Medina, Texas. Joe says this bird is a Crested Caracara but is often referred to as a "Mexican Eagle" and is thought to be the bird on the Mexican National Emblem. Joe took this picture in mid-June 2008, maybe even on Flag Day.

I like the bird's pants but "falcon pants" sounds much better than "caracara pants."
